The number of successful applicants in Yul-Kwa[the State Examination for official law] showed a rapid increase in the latter period the Chosun Dynasty.
This social phenomenon was basically caused by the disorder of the State Examination and slackened social disipline.
The aims of this thesis are to make clear the development of the law education(Yul-Hak), to analyze the law applicant's social position, and to consider the relation between the law education and the social change in the latter period the Chosun Dynasty.
This thesis is composed of two parts. The first part is composed of the concept and the development of law education. The second part is composed of the analysis of the shift of the law applicant's the social position, and the relation between the law education and the law applicant's social position shift.
The conclusion of this thesis are as follows.
First, the close relation between the social change and the educational policy was clearly revealed. The number of the official interpreters, the official the law applicant was changed in proportion to the social need for them. This was why in this period society needed the large-scale measurement of land.
Second, the shift of the law applicant's social position was also in proportion to the social phenomena. For example, in the 18th century, official law experts got much more government posts and somewhat higher social status because the society in this period needed the re-arrangement of laws. In the same way, the official doctors were given more posts and respect when the disease was prevalent.
Still, there are many problems this thesis didn't deal with. Especially the influence of the law education on the change of Chosun society remains to be solved more precisely some day.
