Abstract
Thirty nine patients with stable plaque type psoriasis were treated with the combination therapy of mineral oil plus UV-B or oral methoxsalen plus longwave UV light (PUVA) therapy.
The mean number of treatment, average exposure dose, and accumulated exposure dose of each group needed for achieving each grade were evaluated according to the lesion site. Average exposure time and accumulated exposure time were also calculated.
No difference was found between these croups in the number of exposure for clearing of over 95% of the lesions. But, for the exposure time, mineral oil plus UV-B treated group took much lese than the PUVA treated group.
Based on these findings and considering the general advantages of UV-B phototherapy, the combination therapy of mineral oil plus UV-B can be recommended as a useful method for the treatment of psoriasis.
