유아의 정서지능과 자아존중감, 문제행동, 인지능력 간의 관계 분석 = An analysis of the relationships among children's emotional intelligence, self-esteem, problem behavior and intellectual capacity

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 유아의 정서지능과 자아존중감, 문제행동, 인지능력 간의 관계성을 분석하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 연구대상은 유치원에 재원중인 유아 210명이었으며, 유아 정서지능 검사, 유아 자아존중감 검사, K-BASC-Ⅱ, KABC-Ⅱ를 사용하여 연구자료를 수집하였고 수집된 자료는 상관분석 및 회귀분석을 통해 분석하였다. 연구결과, 유아의 정서지능과 자아존중감, 인지능력 간에는 정적상관이 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 문제행동 간에는 부적 상관이 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 유아의 자아존중감, 문제행동, 인지능력이 정서지능에 미치는 영향력을 분석한 결과, 유아의 자아존중감이 정서지능을 가장 강력하게 설명하는 영향력 있는 예측변인으로 나타났으며, 이어서 문제행동이 정서지능을 예측하는 추가적인 예측변인으로 밝혀졌다. 하위요인에 따른 영향력을 분석한 결과, 문제행동 하위요인인 적응기술이 정서지능을 가장 강력하게 설명하는 예측변인으로 밝혀졌으며, 이어서 자아존중감 하위요인인 정서적 자아, 인지적 자아 그리고 문제행동 하위요인인 행동증상 순으로 정서지능을 설명하는 추가적인 예측변인임을 알 수 있었다. 이처럼 유아 정서지능에 미치는 유아의 자아존중감, 문제행동, 인지능력의 영향을 살펴봄으로써, 정서지능을 함양시킬 수 있는 유아교육 방안을 모색하고 실천하는데 기초자료를 제공할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationships among children's emotional intelligence, self-esteem, problem behavior and intellectual capacity. The subjects used in this study were 210 children who attended kindergarten located at G City and H city in K province. Emotional intelligence Assessment system for Children, Korean Behavior Assessment System for Children, The Kaufman Assesment Battery for Children Second Edition, and The Self-Esteem Inventory for Young Children were used in collection of data. Pearson’s correlation and Multi-Regression Analysis were used to analyze the data.
The results of this study indicate that there were significant positive and negative correlations between emotional intelligence and self-esteem, problem behavior. and intellectual capacity of children. Also, the results of this study indicate that self-esteem of children is a positive variable that predicts emotional intelligence. Furthermore problem behavior is a negative variable that predicts the emotional intelligence of children. Moreover, the results of this study indicate that ‘adaptive skills’ which is a subordinate factor of problem behavior of children, has the most significant predictor of emotional intelligence of children. In addition, ‘emotional self-esteem,’ and ‘cognitive self-esteem,’ which are subordinate factors of self-esteem and 'behavior symptoms.' a subordinate factor of problem behavior were additional predictor of emotional intelligence of children.
These results implied that it is important to enhance emotionail intelligence for young children with self-esteem, problem behavior, and congnitive ability.
