다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

This paper examines how women in Song of Solomon play their roles regarding Milkman's spiritual development. Milman realizes who he is while he tracks the history of African ancestors in the South. Milkman originally is an immature blackman without any background which awakens or directs him to the right life as an African American. Milkman gets to wonder his unbalanced identity so that he finally overcomes all patriarchal restrictions and reaches the intact point of an African American. Morrison considers that the possible and positive source which has Milkman change into himself can be originated from the unique African-American motherhood. In African-American's history, women's and especially mothers' roles are extremely significant to their children since the roles of motherhood include preserving and bearing African culture as well as fostering their children. The origin to change Milkman is not physical caring but rich perception about African culture and history. Pilate and Ruth seem explicitly different but they have mutual rapport based on motherhood to protect and heal Milkman helping each other. Therefore, he can be born again as a brave African American understanding the value of his ancestors’ history and culture.
