루터의 율법과 복음: 유언적 관점에서 = Luther on Law and Gospel: A Testamental Perspective

This article deals with Luther`s understanding of the distinction between Law and Gospel. Luther`s approach to this issue may be explained by principle or functional perspective, chronological or documentary perspective, and testamental perspective. Luther is convinced that to know the distinction between Law and Gospel is the summa of theology to properly understand Scripture, the supreme article for the knowledge of Christian truth, a cornerstone to be the doctor of Scrirpture, and a key for the preservation of true catholic theology. From this, it is obvious that the idea of the distinction between Law and Gospel penetrates Luther`s theology. To see Luther`s view on the distinction, this article takes a testamental perspective in which Luther regards testamentum as the covenant between God and the elect, God as the Testator of testamentum, Jesus Christ as the Mediator of testamentum, the elect as the object of testamentum, Holy Spirit as the Witness of testamentum, faith as the means to receive testamentum, God himself as the legacy of testamentum. From this perspective, Law is the testamentum originated by God but given to Moses through angels who are immortal, accordingly having no validity of testamentum and no legacy, but Gospel is testamentum originated by God given to the elect by means of Spirit`s testimony and their faith through Christ who in flesh became mortal and consequently validates testamentum by his death and thereby gives himself as the legacy of testamentum to the elect. This is the summary of Luther`s testamental perspective on the distinction between Law and Gospel.
