대학의 클래식 피아노 전공 실기의 대중성에 대한 연구 = Study for Increasing the Popular Accessibility of Classical Piano Major Curricula in Universities: Focusing on the Performative Aspects of the Piano Major

국문 초록 (Abstract)

현대 사회는 디지털 기술의 급속한 발전과 대중문화의 확산으로 인해 예술 전반에 걸쳐 유연한 변화와 융합을 요구하고 있으며, 음악 분야 또한 장르 간 경계가 희미해지고 대중적 접근성과 정서적 공감력이 핵심 요소로 부각되고 있다. 그러나 클래식 음악, 특히 대학 수준의 피아노 전공 실기 교육은 여전히 전통적 교육 방식과 고전 중심의 레퍼토리에 치우쳐 있어, 변화하는 문화 환경에 대한 적응력과 대중과의 소통 측면에서 한계를 보이고 있다. 우리는 국내 주요 대학의 피아노 전공 실기 교과목 및 연주 프로그램을 분석하여, 현재의 레퍼토리 구성 실태와 그 교육적 한계를 고찰한다. 이를 바탕으로 학생들이 창작과 편곡 활동을 통해 음악적 자율성과 표현력을 확장할 수 있도록 유도함으로써, 예술성과 대중성을 아우를 수 있는 교육적 대안을 제시하고자 한다. 클래식 음악의 교육과정에 관한 이전의 연구들은 있지만 대중화를 위한 실용적인 방안의 제시가 미흡했다. 그래서 우리는 실기 과제곡의 구성 다양화, 편곡 기반의 연주회 및 콩쿠르의 도입, 창의성 중심 교육과정의 필요성에 대한 구체적인 실천 방안을 제안함으로써, 고등교육 수준의 클래식 음악 교육이 보다 폭넓은 사회적 소통과 문화적 수용성을 확보하는 데 기여할 수 있는 방향을 모색한다.

In contemporary society, the rapid advancement of digital technology and the widespread influence of popular culture have accelerated the demand for flexibility and convergence across all areas of the arts. Within the field of music, the boundaries between genres are increasingly blurred, and public accessibility as well as emotional resonance have emerged as critical elements. However, classical music—particularly university-level piano performance education—remains largely bound to traditional pedagogical methods and a repertoire centered on canonical works. This has resulted in limitations in adapting to the evolving cultural landscape and in engaging effectively with broader audiences. We examine the structure and limitations of the current repertoire and practicum curricula in major Korean university piano performance programs. Based on this analysis, it proposes educational strategies aimed at fostering students’ musical autonomy and creative expression through composition and arrangement. There have been previous studies on the curriculum of classical music education, but they have been insufficient in presenting practical strategies for its popularization. So we suggest the diversification of practicum repertoire, the introduction of arrangement-based recitals and competitions, and the development of creativity-focused curricula. These measures aim to enhance classical music education’s capacity for broader social engagement and cultural relevance within higher education.
