This study explores the educational potential of death awareness education for adolescents in transition and designed the “3H Death Education Model (Head-Heart-Hands)” as an alternative to integrate fragmented curricula. The purpose of this study is to present a concrete and applicable standard educational model that can contribute to a qualitative advancement in transitional education. To this end, a four-session program was developed and implemented, integrating existential reflection, ecological sensitivity, coping with loss, and future life planning. The results showed that death awareness education led adolescents to perceive death not merely as an end but as an opportunity to reconstruct the meaning of life, and demonstrated a shift in their value orientation from achievement-centered perspectives to those emphasizing relationships and lived experiences. While the concept of life remained limited to biological understanding on the cognitive level, it expanded to include the ethics of ecological responsibility on the practical level. Meanwhile, regarding perceptions of the future, a tension between ontological reflection and social norms was identified. This study is significant in that it presents an integrative educational model of death awareness education that fosters ecological citizenship and suggests a direction for a Korean model of death education.
