경제적 자립전망과 자아정체성 유예가 대학생의 직업가치에 미치는 영향 = The Effects of Psychological Distance from Economic Independence and Identity Moratorium on Work Values of College Students

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study identifies with empirical evidence how youth’s prospects of economic independence, identity moratorium, and work values relate each other. A self-ministered questionnaire was provided to 416 university students in the ages between 18 and 26 for conducting the survey. The study results are as follows. First, most of the respondents(76%) were undergoing the identity moratorium. Second, psychological distance from economic independence had negative influences on both commitment and exploration of ego identity. Third, commitment and exploration had positive influences on intrinsic work values of the respondents. Fourth, commitment and exploration perfectly mediated the relation between the psychological distance from economic independence and intrinsic work values. Based on these results, we suggest some implications. The insecure prospect of economic independence is the main cause of the identity moratorium and this will have a negative impact on intrinsic work values. Insecure prospect of economic independence has some effects on social structural aspects, such as giving up searching for jobs, and labor market distortion toward secure jobs. Furthermore, the insecure prospect of economic independence would influence on the lowering of marriage and birth rate by discouraging the youth to be involved in commitment and exploration on dating relationship. This study is significant not only for its empirical identification of the influence of the youth’s economic independence prospect on the identity moratorium and the work values, but also its practical policy implications.
