현대공예의 장식적 요소에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Ornamental Elements of Contemporary Crafts

As Contemporary Crafts develops variously which is based on the plastic consciousness and the expressional modality, there increasing interests on the fundamental problems of Crafts. This is because we recognize and understand the problem of crafts that centers on Crafts characteristics as 'ornamental quality', which plays an important role in aesthetic representation of the traditional Crafts as well as contemporary Crafts.
The ornamental quality can be achieved through the stylization of objects in formal realization steps of Crafts, so G.Semper emphasized the meaning of materials because the ornamental realizations are based on materials and techniques.
The material quality, which has been appeared as the artistic expressional medium, is widely used as a method of representing creative intention, so this paper researches on the basis of the material quality which is used as the dynamic ornamental components, by studying the ornamental aesthetics, the material theory of Semper and the matiere which is used as expressional media.
