The authors had collected one-year-old stems of the persimmon tree from Jan. to Feb., 1995 and tested cold tolerance at various tempertures and locations.
The materials for the experiment were Sagok native persimmon cultivated in Sagok, Kyungpook province, Chungdo native persimmon cultivated in Chungdo, Kyungpook province and Fuyu persimmon cultivated in Kimhae, Kyungnam province. The results are as follows :
1. In visual test, bud browning was deepended at lower temperature in 3 persimmon cultivars. It was deeper in Feb. than in Jan. Buds of Fuyu and Chungdo native persimmon were stronger in tolerance at low temparature than Sagok native persimmon.
2. Cold tolerance of bark was weaker in Feb. than in Jan. The injury at low temperature was deeper in 1-year-old stems of Fuyu than those of other persimmons. The bud was stronger than the bark in Fuyu in cold tolerance.
3. The eletric conductivity was higher in decreasing order in Fuyu, Sagok, Chungdo native persimmons.
4. Bud bursting rate was lower in Feb. than in Jan. and the rate was under 50% at the temperature below -10℃ Fuyu was higher in injury at low temperature than the other persimmons.
