      The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between stress perceived by adolescents and school adjustment and whether this relationship is mediated by meaning in life; The presence of meaning in life and The search for meaning in life. For this purpose, 532 adolescents in Gyeonggi Province were surveyed three questionnaires; Stress Perceived by Adolescents Scale, Meaning in Life Scale and School Adjustment Scale. The collected data was analyzed by Pearson's correlations, regression analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. As results of this study were summarized as follows. First, the analysis of relationships among stress, school adjustment, the presence of meaning and the search for meaning shows that there is a significant negative correlation between controllable stress and school adjustment, and a significant negative correlation between controllable stress and the presence of meaning. Second, the analysis on the mediating effects of the presence of meaning between controllable stress and school adjustment shows that the presence of meaning partially mediates the relationship of the controllable stress and school adjustment. The findings of this study provided meaning in that particular search was made for a variable that mediate the relationship of controllable stress and school adjustment. Finally this study suggested the needs of development about intervention programs of enhancing meaning in life to increase school adjustment.
