The aims of this study was to find out the educational value of Erick Hawkins' theory and technique. This study is an examination and description of the art and philosophy of Erick Hawkins, an evaluation of his contribution to the development of new modern dance method.
The study is divided into two parts: theory and technique. In order to describe and evaluate Hawkins' contribution to dance, the study focuses on three areas of concern.
The first part of present study concerned with the development of Erick Hawkins' aesthetic philosophy. An artist's principle are useful to know his preferences, goals and intellectual interests.
The second area of concern is principles of movement and the specific exercises of Hawkins' dance technique. The Introduction on characteristics of Hawkins' technique is followed by review of his classes and by a consideration of theory and method.
The last area of concern is describe the educational value of Erick Hawkins' met.
