본 연구는 2016. 12. 01~2017. 4. 30 기간 동안 대학생의 성격 5요인(신경증, 외향성, 개방성, 성실성, 친화성), 정서지능과 우울, 공격성의 구조적 관계를 살펴보기 위해 수행되었다. 최종모형 검증결과, 정서지능은 외향성, 성실성, 친화성과 우울의 관계에서 완전매개효과를 가졌고 신경증, 개방성과 우울의 관계에서는 부분매개효과를 나타내었다. 또한 정서지능은 개방성, 성실성과 공격성의 관계에서 완전매개효과를 가졌고 신경증, 외향성, 친화성과 공격성의 관계에서는 부분매개효과를 나타내었다. 즉 외향성과 성실성, 친화성이 높을수록 정서지능이 높아져 우울이 감소하게 된다. 또 신경증이 낮고 개방성이 높을수록 직접적으로 우울 수준이 낮아질 뿐만 아니라, 간접적으로 정서지능이 높아져 우울 수준이 낮아지게 된다는 것이다. 그리고 개방성과 성실성이 높을수록 정서지능이 높아져 공격성이 감소하게 된다. 또 신경증과 외향성이 낮고, 친화성이 높을수록 직접적으로 공격성 수준이 낮아질 뿐만 아니라, 간접적으로 정서지능이 높아져 공격성 수준이 낮아지게 된다는 것이다. 본 연구 결과는 대학생의 우울과 공격성에 개입하기 위해서 근본적으로는 성격의 변화가 중요 하지만, 보다 직접적으로 정서지능에 기반한 개입과 대처가 필요하다는 것을 보여주었다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점이 논의되었다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationship between big-five personality, emotional intelligence, depression and aggression in college students. As a result of the final model test, emotional intelligence had a full mediating effect in relation to extroversion, conscientiousness, agreeableness and depression, and showed partial mediating effects in relation to neuroticism, openness and depression. Also, emotional intelligence had a full mediating effect on openness, conscientiousness and aggression, and partial mediating effect on neuroticism, extroversion, agreeableness and aggression. In other words, the higher the extroversion, the conscientiousness, and the agreeableness, the more the emotional intelligence increases and the depression decreases. Also, the lower the neuroticism and the higher the openness, the lower the depression directly, indirectly the emotional intelligence increases, and eventually the depression decreases. In addition, the higher the openness and the conscientiousness, the more the emotional intelligence increases and the aggression decreases. Also, the lower the neuroticism and extroversion, the higher the agreeableness, the lower the aggression directly, the emotional intelligence increases indirectly, and eventually the aggression decreases. The significance of this study is that the change of big-five personality is essential for the intervention of depression and aggression in college students, but it re quires more direct intervention based on emotional intelligence. Finally, implications and limitations of this study were discussed.
