Both the Korean “jal”-type property passive sentences and the Chinese ‘NP+hǎo-V constructions can express the inherent property of the subject and share syntactic and semantic similarities, such as the use of the patient as the grammatical subject. This study aims to examine the syntactic and semantic features of the Korean “jal”-type property passives sentences and the Chinese ‘NP+hǎo-V constructions to conduct a contrastive analysis between these two contrastive items. The goal of this study is to identify and clarify the similarities and differences in their syntactic and semantic characteristics. Both constructions exhibit characteristics of middle sentences such as the presence of an implicit agent, the existence of a modifying element. The most significant difference between these two constructions in the presence or absence of an explicit passive marker.
