Effect of intraventricular physostigmine on the renal function of the rabbits was investigated.
Intraventricular physostigmine(100,㎍) induced increase of urine volume, Ccr and urinary excretion of sodium and potassium.
Vagotomy, intravenous or intraventricular atropine inhibited the renal effects of intraventricular physostigmine.
From the above results, it is suggested that the natriuretic effect of intraventricular physostigmine is due to the role of central cholinergic mechanism.
