국립대학 구조개혁 지원사업의 적절성에 대한 소고 = An Anaylisis on Public University Restructuring Program

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper examines several aspects of public university restructuring program. We find that in terms employment rates and job mismatch, the public universities graduates` labor market performances of the humanity and social science major are worse than those of private universities` graduates. This implies restructuring should be more than decreasing number of students and enhance labor market performances of graduates. From the private university data set, we find that per-student spending level does not decrease with number of students over relevant range, implying we cannot expect economies of scale from merging universities. Restructure should induce higher quality education rather than working as a cost-saving device. Finally, we propose that the role of public university at the regional level should not be decreased as a result of restructuring.
