The SEM image of the particle shows that fibrous products formed on the powder, which is one piece of evidence that the combustion reaction included a gas-solid reaction mechanism.
These conclusions can be reached:
1. The combustion reaction front propagated well through the specimen. Spinel peaks were observed after the combustion reaction in the X-ray spectra of the product.
2. The combustion temperature and its propagation velocity increased with oxygen partial pressure up to the maximum values of 8,8 mm/s at 1153°C under 8.0 MPa of compacting pressure and then decreased with any further increase of the compact-ing pressure.
3. Microstructural observation of the combustion product revealed that the reaction was a gas-solid reaction.
