      From the prehistorical times, Yeon Ji has been used to vitalize human skin and make human lips look more beautiful, and it is still being used even in this times of modern culture not just as a wonder for good skin and lips but in the transformed shape with various colors and functions.<BR>  This study has been conducted for the purpose of understanding how chinese make up culture has affected that of korea and how korean make up culture has transformed itself in forming the current unique cosmetic culture of country based on preceding studies on historical Yeon Ji usage and periodic comparison between chinese and korean make-up culture with much focus on the symbolic color ‘red".<BR>  In conclusion, Yeon Ji deemed to be a prehistoric way of make up, is still alive in the form of various pattern and ways, and let out a meaningful starting point for the creation of unique korean beauty by comparison with different make up cultures of contemporary china. if the scope of this study could be extended further into including japan or minorities of china, this will turn out to be a more profound and systematic study.
