The main purpose of this study is to identify degree of job satisfaction, which is related to working environment, among practitioners in Community Mental Health Centers located in Kyunggi Do. By analyzing answers of a modified working environment and job satisfaction scales and general information of individual practitioner and center, the study found several interesting results as follows:
1) The degree of perceived job satisfaction among practitioners in CMHCs was 3.33 points when 5points are ranked as the most satisfied;
2) The practitioners evaluated that work-itself was the most satisfied, while finacial reward was the least satisfied;
3) Groups divided by socio-demographic information of the individuals and general characteristics of the centers evaluated working environment differently;
4) Only level of professional certification and number of networking agencies showed the statistically significant result that these two factors were positively related to job satisfaction;
5) There were correlation among each sub-scale of working environment and between the sub-scales and job satisfaction. Except factors of promotion, comfortness, and financial rewards, total job satisfaction was related to some of the sub-scales of working environment. However, these three factors must be considered as important factors for maximizing job satisfaction among CMHCs' practitioners.
Finally, this study recommends that changes of managerial content and style (so called "transition of management paradigm in CMHCs") must be taken precedence of encourage of job satisfaction in order to achieve real meaning of community care for persons with mentally ill and member of community.
