장애아동 모(母)의 양육 경험에 관한 연구: 스트레스 과정 모델을 중심으로 = Parental Stress and Satisfaction of Mothers of Children with Disability: Testing the Stress Process Model

The purpose of this study is to test Pearlin`s stress process model exploring mothers experience of children with disability in terms of parental stress and satisfaction. For the purpose of the study, 417 mothers of children with disability who reside in Daegu and Kyungpook province participated. The results of the study indicated that family`s financial status has direct and indirect impact on perceived levels of burden, social support, parental stress and satisfaction. Family`s financial status showed indirect impact on parental stress and satisfaction through social support and perceived level of disability. Next, the other stress context, length of children`s disability, had also direct impact on social support, parental stress and satisfaction. It also showed indirect impact on parental stress and satisfaction through social support. Length of disability was not a statistically significant factor in explaining mothers` burden, however, it had indirect effect on mothers` burden through social support. Based on these findings, implications for practical and theoretical work with these families are discussed and recommendations were made for the further study.
