Recently we can witness more number of philosophers soliciting fundamental reflections on contemporary classification of sciences in the middle of the chaos in which the crisis of humanities, the crisis of natural science and engineering, and the crisis of basic sciences are widely debated. Nevertheless, most philosophers might delegate the problem of the system or the classification of science to librarians or science policy makers. I shall once again draw attention of the philosophers to this problem by asking the place of philosophy in the contemporary system of sciences. For this purpose, I will review Peirce`s classification of science (section 2), examine several models of the relation between science and philosophy based on Friedman`s discussion (section 3), and reflect upon the lessons from such an examination (section 4).
