The ultimate ideal of physical education is the development of whole person in students. However, physical education has not been successful in achieving this ideal. The purpose of this article is to identify an integrated approach to secondary physical education in order to achieve the ideal of the whole person. In particular, ideas for content organization and teaching strategies are sought. This study starts with the review of recent attempts to integrate knowledge, skills, and attitude in physical education. Then, the Queensland's recent physical education curriculum integration reform proposal in Australia is analyzed. After that, the ideas of content organization and teaching strategies for Korean secondary physical education are developed. Finally, some suggestions for the social, cultural, and institutional conditions in which these integrative ideas can be effectively realized in school settings.
