In this paper, a study was made to realize the digital voltmeter using microprocessor. The DVM was composed of M 6800 microprocessor with simple analog subsystem and software. To achieve analog to digital conversion, successive approximation techniques was used. MC 6820 PIA interfaced the analog subsystem and digital subsystem-microprocessor. The hard wired-logic functions of conventional DVM was substituted by MC 6800 software. The advantages of using microprocessor are to get maximum, minimum and average of iterative measuring data. Also autorange was solved by software.
