카리스마적 스포츠 지도자에 대한 Case Study : Leadership을 中心으로 = A Cast Study of Charismatic Leaders in Sport

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 초기 리더십 이론의 대표적 모델인 X이론(권위주의), Y이론(민주주의)의 지도자 유형 이분법이 현대 스포츠세계에 적용될 수 있는가? 그리고 스포츠 지도론 에서 스포츠 지도자의 자질요건으로 민주적 성격의 중요성을 강조하고 권위적, 강제적 지도이념은 바람직하지 않다는 이분법에 의문을 가지면서 출발한다. 이 연구의 목적은 카리스마적 리더십을 가진 스포츠 지도자들의 사례분석을 통하여 그들의 리더십이 조직에 어떤 결과를 가져오게 했는지 조명하는 것이었다. 카리스마적 리더들은 지배적 욕구가 강하다. 스포츠세계에서 팀을 장악한다는 것은 매우 중요하다. 카리스마적 리더 모두가 팀을 장악한 것은 아닌 것을 사례분석을 통해 알 수 있었다. 카리스마적 지도자라 할 지라도 그들의 리더십은 모두 같지가 않다. 김응룡감독의 자율성과 독재의 조화적 관례정립, 차범근 감독의 합리성을 수반한 카리스마적 리더십, 김성근 감독의 '관리'를 바탕으로 한 리더십, 방 열 감독의 전문가적 권위(expert power)를 수반한 리더십은 카리스마적 리더가 갖추어야할 중요한 요소로 귀결된다.

Are Theory X and Theory Y still an effective classification in leadership frame for sport field. This study began with this kind of simple question. The purpose of this study was to investigate theoretically and examine charismatic leaders in sport through observation and review of literatures. Leadership has been a subject and discussed by scholars in various disciplines for centuries. However, charismatic leadership was hardly searched by scholars, especially in sport field. Leadership is defined as the process of inspiring or influencing members of a group to enthusiastically and competently perform their jobs. In sport, leaders who has s charismatic character in leadership structure, have done tremendous job for their team and players. Ten subjects who have involved or had taken sport team as head coach, were selected by researcher. The subjects were cosidered as charismatic leader based on House. Conger and Kanungo Theory. Most charismatic leaders have had both side, negative and positive aspects which influenced their players. When this study and observes, after the fact, what some leaders do to inspire and influence the players of team to enthusiastically and competently perform their task, certain special personal characteristics were found: To be successful leader as charismatic leader, leader in sport organization should have personal characteristics such as expert power, autonomy and rationality.
