Objects : The authors attempted to assess asymmetric brain activity to topographic visual evoked potential P100 determined by the Global Field Power Measurement in schizophrenia.
Methods : The subjects, 40 normal controls and 35 schizophrenics, were assessed in the absolute amplitude of topographic VEP P100 by GFP.
Results : There were not significant differences in asymmetric brain activity between normal controls and schizophrenics. But, in O₁,the absolute amplitude of schizophrenics was significantly greater than of normal controls.
Conclusion : there results suggested that the schizophrenics may differ from normal controls not in asymmetricity(or laterality), but in brain activity.
