여성노동자의 고용조건과 출산 = The effect of female worker’s working conditions on fertility

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of female worker’s working conditions on fertility rate. The survival analysis was conducted for this purpose. The major results of this study are as follows.
First, the birth probability of non-regular(part-time or temporary) female workers is lower than that of regular(full-time or hired more than 1 year) female workers. This result is in sharp contrast with the existing research that the flexibility of working hour is important to increase the birth rate.
Second, the working environment was also an important factor of the birth probability. Compared to other occupations, birth probability of female worker who are engaged in manufacturing filed is lower than that of white collar.
Third, The policies such as childcare leave raised birth probability of female workers. But maternity leave had limited effect on increasing the possibility of the birth. Therefore, this implies that female workers need considerable time to foster a child.
Considering this results, we can conclude that improving the working conditions of female workers is required to raise fertility rate in our society.
