Solubility of salicylic acid, anti-acne agent in supercritical fluid was measured with a variable volume view cell at 313.15 and 333.15 K and at pressures between 10 and 35 MPa and applied to micronization process. We estimated satisfactorily the salicylic acid solubility in supercritical carbon dioxide using the quasi-chemical nonrandom lattice fluid (QLF) model. Salicylic acid was micronized by the rapid expansion of supercritical solution (RESS) process. The effects of temperature and pressure on the average particle sizes were investigated using phase behavior data and correlated results from the QLF model. As the extraction temperature increases the average particle sizes increase from 1.52 to 2.57 μm. Increasing in extraction pressure resulted in decrease in the average particle size from 2.01 to 0.87 μm.
