The chemical compositions of calcium-ferrites in plant sinters have been investigated using Electron Microprobe X-Ray Analysis (EPMA). Except for the small amount of MgO and TiO, calcium-ferrite solid solution have following formula, 10CaO·XAl₂O₃·YSiO2·ZFe₂O₃where (X+Y+Z) is between 22.5 and 26.9. The chemical formula of these calcium-ferrites in plant sinters is very similar to that of synthesized quaternary calcium-ferrite solid solution. Microhardness of the calcium-ferrites in plant sinters also shows a very similar to that of the synthesized quaternary calcium-ferrites, and there is a tendency that the more Al₂O₃is contained in the calcium-ferrite, the greater is the Vicker's microhardness number of the calcium-ferrite.
