Corruption still prevails in almost every field of the Vietnamese society, including the governing Communist Party, judicial authorities, finance and tax authorities and public services. Amongst all, the most notorious traditions are the acceptance of bribery between government officials and pass-down of their government positions to their sons. Considering that Vietnam has one sole governing party, which is the Communist Party, it is a very serious problem that the government officials are corrupted, because the corrupted officials may bring disgrace on the Party and the government, which would have an adverse effect on the country s on-going development.
This paper examines the corrupted bureaucracy in Vietnam with a focus on the bribery accepted and government positions (unfairly) passed down to generations. Firstly, this paper reviews the precedent researches on the same subject. And then it analyzes the relevant examples, press releases, and interviews in regards to the two most prevalent types of corruption in Vietnam. Finally, this paper evaluates the causes of corruption and the possibilities of eradicating its corrupted traditions with its after-effects, and then draws a conclusion about implications of the corrupted Vietnamese bureaucracy.
