There are many factors influencing the process and outcomes of schooling. The quality of teacher is one of the most important factor to determine the outcomes of schooling. Also there are a number of ways to improve the ability and quality of teachers. Among them, in-service education is a key role to advance the capacity of school teachers.
This article attempted to diagnose current status and problems of in-service education system in Korea. The analysis was based on reviewing of its concepts, types, models of its system. Finally, the study suggested rational directions and specific policy tasks for improving quality of teachers in in-service education system with relation to educational personnel administration system.
