다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)
Traditionally the women have had responsibility for caring work for the aged in the family. But caregiving poses multiple stresses and challenges to those providing care. It is clear that those providing care to the elderly with chronic illness may require and benefit from instrumental assistance or financial support, which helps reinforce caregiver self-esteem and continued motivation for providing care. Considering the rapid changes of the family size and structures in Korea, it is urgently needed of the social-political arrangements for caregivers in the family (generally the women). This paper suggests several strategies to support family caregivers for the frail elderly.
