세계검술의 문화적 특성에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Cultural Characteristics of the World Swordsmanship

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 한국, 중국, 일본, 인도, 유럽의 검술을 문화적 관점에서 고찰한 것으로 검술이 문화구조적인 측면에서 어떤 원인들로 발전했고, 어떻게 변용해 발전했는지를 살펴보았다. 이에 대한 결론은 다음과 같다.
첫째, 각국의 검술은 전쟁기술에서 정리된 사례와 전투를 위한 훈련의 전통적인 체계이다. 모든 검술이 유사한 목적을 가지고 있지만, 각국의 이념과 연계되어 있다. 또한 많은 문화적 경쟁력이 있으며, 가장 일반적으로 스포츠로서가 아니라, 수련형태로 유지되고 있다.
둘째, 검술은 해당지역의 문화속에서 만들어져 전통문화의 영향에 의해 발전, 변화했기 때문에 해당지역의 전통문화의 규범을 받았다.
셋째, 검술의 스포츠화는 형(形)으로 위험한 기술은 보존하고 있어 스포츠와의 차별성을 갖고 있기도 하다.
앞으로 각국의 검술은 오랫 동안 존재된 유산으로서 스포츠로서의 검술과 전통무예로서의 문화적 가치를 지닌 검술의 조화로운 발전이 요구된다. 특히 발전과정에서 문화의 가치를 높이기 위해서는 각국의 검술이 지닌 세계관과 가치를 공유할 수 있는 문화적 체계가 필요할 것으로 사료된다. 이를 위해서는 검술이 추구하는 목표 지향의 이념과 본질을 배척해서는 안될 것이며 현대 스포츠문화에 대한 깊은 검토와 개선 방향에 대해 연구되어져야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to the Swordsmanship of nations(Korea, Japan, China, India, Europe) to identify the structural characteristics of the interactions of cultural elements composing of Swordsmanship. The findings of the study are as follows.
First, the Swordsmanship are systems of codified practices and traditions of training for combat. Swordsmanship all have a very similar objective: defend oneself or others from physical threat. Many arts are also practiced competitively, most commonly as combat sports, but may also take the form of performance.
Second, the Swordsmanship were influenced by the norms of the traditional culture of the corresponding area, as they were created, developed and changed in the culture of the area.
Third, the development of Swordsmanship into sports took place. They still have dangerous techniques such as Form, which make them different from sports.
