This study investigated developmental trends and sex difference in preschoolers’ creativity aged from 4-6 years old.
The major findings were as follows. First, the creativity scores on fluency, flexibility, originality increased gradually as preschoolers grow and particularly creativity score increased rapidly between age 4 and 5 compared to between age 5 and 6. Second, figural and movement creativity increased gradually. However, verbal creativity score changed discontinuously: it increased between 4 and 5, it decreased between 5 and 6. Third, there were no sex differences on creativity. However, the girls’ score on fluency, originality. and imagination were higher than boys, and flexibility score for girls is much higher than that of boys in particular. Fourth, verbal and figural scores for girls were higher than that of boys and there was a sex difference between sex. However, there was no significant difference on movement creativity.
