This paper updates and extends previous researches of the sociology of Sport in South Korea. It provides a brief history of the field as well as a description of a social context in which the field emerged and grew. The date reveal socialization, subculture, group, education, politics, economy, deviance, stratification, methodology and mass-media in the order of their interesting topic; religion, art, organization, social change, mass-media and methodology in the order of their unpopular topic. Then review of data from the field leads to the conclusion that the subfield in Physical Education has a series bias in the theory and methodology despite its full quantity. In fact, there is no research adopting a qualitative methodology throughout the whole date. Although th continued numerial growth of those calling themselves Sport Sociologists has occured, the bias doesn`t look like to significantly correct in immediate future. However, the author recommend that the theoretical and methodogical barrier for the development of the Sociology of Sport in South Korea should be eliminated.
