Teachers are playing the most important role in the process of education. To develop the quality of education, it is necessary to improve the social status and working conditions of teachers.
The main focus of this thesis is how satisfied teachers are with their job, and by which factors they are satisfied or dissatisfied.
For the analysis, this thesis used the statistical methods such as F -test, ANOVA analysis, and correlation analysis after examining the average and standard deviation of variables which were measured on the basis of 5-steps Likert system through using the stratified random sampling for data of 307 questionnaires from teachers of business high schools where are located in Seoul.
In this study, based on F. Herzberg's theory of motive and hygiene, some questionnaires in order to measuer job satisfaction by teachers were composed and data were collected through them.
Issues for this study are as follows:
1. Is there any difference of the teacher's job satisfaction according to sex, age, teaching experience, educational background, position, maritial status, and the number of courses or subjects taken by a teacher?
2. What correlations exist between job satisfaction and F. Herzberg's 8 elements of motive and hygiene?
3. What are the general points at issue recognized by the teachers of business high school?
In the result of an analytical study on job satisfaction by business high school teachers, it appeared that teachers who influence significantly the development of education in our society are satisfied with their job, and however, they are very unsatisfied for the poor basic environments and welfare facilities in comparison with other jobs, rarity of promotion, and irrationality of school's administrative structure.
Herein, it is suggested that more macroscopic, political efforts should be followed so that teachers have pride and dignity that they are contributing to cultivating talent who will devote industry in the future, and therefore they can concentrate on their duties of work.
