사이버대학교 영어학과의 인터넷커뮤니티 분석 = The Analysis of the Internet Communities in English Departments of Cyber Universities.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 사이버대학 영어학과의 인터넷 커뮤니티의 운영 및 역할을 알아보고자 한다. 선행연구들은 인터넷 커뮤니티가 교수적, 관리적, 사회적 역할을 하고 있다고 밝히고 있다. 이러한 분석방법에 의거하여 본 연구는 4개의 사이버대학에 영어 관련 학과의 인터넷 커뮤니티의 역할을 조사한다. 사이버대학 영어학과의 인터넷 커뮤니티는 대학 홈페이지, 다음, 싸이월드 등을 기반으로 하고 있는데, 대부분 조교나 학과장 교수가 운영자의 역할을 하면서 학습자들의 참여를 독려하였다. 2012년에 게시판에 올라온 글들을 중심으로 분석이 진행되었는데, 결과로는 첫째, 활성화되지 않는 게시판이 많이 있었고, 게시판의 재정비가 필요함을 보여주었다. 둘째, 인터넷 커뮤니티는 대부분 사회적, 관리적 역할을 하고 있었으나, 교수적 역할은 미흡하였다. 또한 페이스북, 블로그, 트위터와 같은 다양한 SNS가 고려되어야 함을 보여주었다. 마지막으로, 온라인채팅과 같은 실시간 컴퓨터 매개 의사소통이 인터넷 커뮤니티에서 활용되는 것이 바람직하겠다. 인터넷 커뮤니티는 이러닝에서 중요한 역할을 하므로, 이와 같은 결과에 의거하여 계속적인 변화와 발전이 필요하겠다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This research discusses the management and roles of Internet community when engaging with e-learning of English courses in cyber university. Previous researches identify that the roles of Internet community involve the instructional, organizational, and social tasks. Based on the framework of the role, this study examines the role of Internet community in English related department of four cyber universities. Internet communities were made in university homepage, Daum, Cyworld, and so on. In most cases, the teaching assistant or department chair took the role of a manager, and encouraged students' participation. Bulletin boards and writings of 2012 were analyzed. In conclusion, at first, there were many boards which were not used actively, so the reorganization of the boards are necessary. Secondly, it is revealed that Internet community played the social and organizational roles but not the instructional roles. Next, more diverse ways of SNS such as facebook, blogs, twitter are to be considered. Finally, synchronous computer-mediated communication like online chatting is recommended in Internet community. Based on the results, some implementation ideas for developing Internet community were suggested. Since Internet community plays a critical role in e-learning, it must be equipped with an appropriate set of skills and attributes.
