『침묵의 시간 Tiempo de Silencio』에 나타난 언어적 상징성과 기술

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This dissertation is intended to identify how symbolism and skill of language are represented in the『Tiempo de Silencio』by Luis Martin Santos that was in a limelight with a unique and new form unlike previously flourished realism in 1962 in Spain.
I has suggested a necessity of placing a focus on unique type of language skill and symbolism of author to be studied with the highest priority and reported an insufficient amount of data in the previous research in Korea compared to other foreign countries. In addition, an introduction of Luis Martin Santos and also a background of writing a novel as well as an overall flow in society and literature in the 20st century before 『Tiempo de Silencio』was released were briefly presented.
II has identified four major elements that were granted with a dark side of Spain society in a symbolic form by the author in a novel. In addition, soliloquy, unique type of writing, and selection of various types of words represented in the overall novel in the light of language skill were described in details.
Lastly, IV has re-examined 『Tiempo de Silencio』to be a novel written with creative and experimental purpose in the history of Spanish literature that was not known to the public in Korea and identified what the author truly wanted to convey in it.
It is expected for this study to serve as a foundation for follow-up research on the author, Luis Martin Santos in a special attention.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 1962년 기존의 스페인 사실주의 소설과 달리 새롭고 독특한 형식으로 이목을 끌었던 루이스 마르띤 산또스(Luis Martín Santos)의 『침묵의 시간』에 나타난 언어적 상징성과 기술이 어떻게 드러나는 지 살펴볼 것이다.
I에서는 선행연구에서 국외보다 한국에서의 미미한 연구 자료를 보고함과 동시에 루이스 마르띤 산또스의 작품에서 그 시대를 분명히 알 수 있고, 제일 중요하게 연구해야만 하는 상징성과 작가 특유의 언어기술에 초점을 맞출 필요성을 제시하였다. 그리고『침묵의 시간』이 출판되기 전 20세기의 전반적인 사회와 문학의 흐름을 나타내었고, 루이스 마르띤 산또스에 대한 소개와 작품의 집필 배경을 간략히 다뤘다.
II에서는 작가가 작품 속에서 스페인 사회의 어두운 모습을 상징적으로 부여한 요소들을 크게 4가지로 찾아보았다. 또한 언어기술에 있어서 작품 전반에 두드러지게 나타나는 내면독백과 독특한 문체, 그리고 다양한 어휘 선택을 상세히 기술하였다.
마지막으로 IV에서는 국내에 제대로 알려지지 못했던 『침묵의 시간』이 스페인 문학사에 있어서 창조와 실험성을 갖춘 작품임을 다시금 알리며, 작가가 나타내고자 했던 바를 무엇이였는지 살펴보았다.
본 연구를 시점으로 스페인의 작가 루이스 마르띤 산또스에 대한 관심과 깊은 연구가 이루어지길 바라본다.
