이 글의 목적은 1980년대 초 미국에서 과학ㆍ기술 교육의 진흥을 위해 시작한 '프로젝트2061'의 중에서 수학적 의미를 소개하고자 하는 것이다. 과학적 시도로서의 수학, 과학적 탐구과정으로서의 수학 및 과학적 사고 방법으로서의 수학에 초점을 맞추고 수학적 아이디어에 관련된 수학적 세계 및 수학적 기법에 대해서 언급하고자 한다. 이 글의 통해서 나는 학생들은 수학을 과학적 노력의 한 부분으로 이해하여야 하며 또한 수학적 사고의 본질을 이해하고 중요한 수학적 아이디어와 수학적 기법에 익숙함으로써 과학의 이해에 도움이 된다고 생각한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to introduce the mathematical implication of 'Project 2061' starting to enhance the science and technology education of the united state in the early period of nineteen-eight. I like to mention the mathematical world and description related to the mathematical idea focusing on mathematics of scientific experiment, inquiry skills, and thinking methodology. From this paper, I think students understand mathematics to one aspect of scientific effect, which help them study the science through understanding the nature of mathematical thinking, the important idea of mathematics, and mathematical description.
