This study was performed to examine the effects of Energy-Concentration magnet play on children at risk for emotional and behavioral disorders in an inclusive class, specifically on their concentration and cognitive intensity and speed. Three subjects at risk for emotional and behavioral disorders were selected from third graders of elementary school W in Daegu metropolitan city. For six weeks, a total of 18 experiment sessions were conducted three times a week. The conclusions from the results and discussion of this study are as follows. First, Energy-Concentration magnet play has a positive effect on concentration in children at risk for emotional and behavioral disorders. While playing with the magnets, the children seem to have improved concentration, as their tense brain relaxed, their emotions stabilized with increased confidence, and they could concentrate on the words and actions of the teacher for longer than usual. Second, Energy-Concentration magnet play has no positive effects on enhancing cognitive intensity of children at risk for emotional and behavioral disorders. The magnet play calms down the subjects and has a positive effects on relaxing the brain, but it seems to have no such effects on increasing cognitive intensity. Third, Energy-Concentration magnet play has a positive effect on improving the cognitive speed of children at risk for emotional and behavioral disorders. After playing with the magnets, two of the three children showed an increase in cognitive speed, and the qualitative analysis for each experiment session also proved that all three children were faster at solving problems, responding to questions from the teacher and reacting to instructions to prepare a class, and therefore they seemed to have increased their speed of cognition.
