The purpose of this study was to discuss the metaphorical phenomena of visual language. Chapter 2 defined metaphor as a method to look for similarities by analogical inference between two different concepts, to transform one concept into another, and to understand the world that soaks into our everyday life and thinking activities. To interpret and check out metaphorical visual language, its relationship with surrounding environment should be analyzed. Chapter 4 provided the triangular structure of metaphor, a diagram that shows such a relationship. This diagram offers a clear semantic relationship of visual language, and can be used as a means to not only interpret and check metaphorical visual language but envision a new idea. It's attempted in this study to discuss how and in which procedure metaphor could function in visual language and to structurize their relationship, and the efforts seem to prove that logical inference makes it possible to create message through visual metaphor. If the far-reaching world of visual metaphor is more deeply understood on that base, it will be of great use for creating new visual language.
