Le Corbusier와 E. Howard의 도시계획에 관한 비교연구 = The Comparative Study of Le Corbusier and E. Howard in Urban Planning

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study focuses on the comparison of the ideas and urban planning of Le Corbusier and E. Howard as urban planners in the early 20th century. Le Corbusier who received his fame as an architect displayed his efforts centering on Paris and also stated a new urban planning for renewing central Paris, while Howard presented the garden city planning and applied it in real world. Performing urban planning of several cities around the world, Le Corbusier realized his ideas through Chandigarh planning in India. Although there were diverse researches on Howard`s urban planning in geography, the study of Le Corbusier`s ideas is rarely found in geography. The urban planning that both researchers performed can largely be divided into horizontal and vertical planning, and also reveals their difference in landscape. Le Corbusier`s urban planning that has largely influenced on vertical form of modern cities needs to be further studied in geographical perspective.
