국문 초록 (Abstract)

오늘날 기술혁신이 기업뿐만 아니라 산업·국가적 차원에서도 생존을 좌우하고 지속성장을 가능케하는 결정요인이라는 점에는 큰 이견이 없다. 이에 따라 기술혁신 창출을 위한 연구개발 투자의 중요성이 대두되는 것이다. 그러나 민간부문, 즉 전체 기업의 99%를 차지하는 중소기업의 혁신투자가 미흡하다는 문제가 지속적으로 제기되고 있는 반면, 그 중요성에 비해 중소기업의 혁신투자 패턴에 관한 실증연구는 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 다항로짓모형을 활용하여 중소기업의 혁신투자 의사결정에 관한 영향요인을 분석하고, 혁신 프로세스 관점에서 기존의 이론적 논의를 확장함과 더불어 실무적·정책적 시사점을 도출하고자 하였다. 분석 결과, 혁신투자 확대 및 축소 의사결정에 유의한 영향을 미치는 요인들을 확인하였으며, 특히 각 요인들이 혁신투자 의사결정에 미치는 영향이 반드시반비례하는 것은 아니라는 점을 알 수 있었다. 이는 이론적으로 기업들이 보이고 있는 혁신활동 행태를 살펴봄에 있어, 프로세스 관점에서 기업의 혁신활동을 보다 복잡한 과정으로 이해하고 접근할 필요가 있음을 시사한다. 아울러 실무적·정책적으로는 중소기업의 혁신투자 의사결정이 비교적 복잡한 과정임을 전제로 이들의 행동을 평가·예측하고, 나아가 실질적으로 혁신활동을 유도할 수 있는 방안이 마련될 수 있기를 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

There is little doubt that technological innovation today is a determinant that determines survival and enables sustainable growth not only at the industrial and national levels, but also at the industrial and national levels. Consequently, the importance of R&D investment to create technological innovation emerge. However, while the problem of insufficient innovation investment by the private sector in Korea, which accounts for 99 percent of the total, is constantly being raised, empirical research on innovation investment patterns by small and medium enterprises is lacking compared to its importance.
In this study, we analyze the impact factors on SME"s innovation investment decision making using the multinomial logit model from the perspective of the innovation process. The analysis identified factors that significantly affect the decision to expand and reduce innovative investments, particularly the effects of each factor on innovative investment decisions not necessarily inversely proportional. This in theory suggests that in looking at the behaviour of innovative activities that companies are seeing, it is necessary to understand and approach the entity"s innovation activities as a more complex process from a process perspective.
