This research was based on the viewpoint for the hypothetical model by a study on the relationship between participating in leisure sports and leisure satisfaction and a related study on the examined relationship between participating in leisure sports and leisure satisfaction.
Therefore, this study investigated the effect that demographic characteristics and relationships between participating in leisure sports and leisure satisfaction.
The research has been conducted by the basis of a sample survey of the residents who were over 20years old of Seoul, Pusan, and Chonju by the multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling. 412 out of 438 sampled people were filled out the questionnaires, and 400 questionnaires were used for data for the study.
The background variables controlled by the research according to the demographic characteristics were sex, age, income, the level of education, the degree of health condition, and the dependent variables which was related to leisure satisfaction were also examined.
The questionnaires on leisure satisfaction was based on the yardstick of the previors studies which were conducted in the country. The Leisure satisfaction scale (LSS) in 1980 done by Beard and Ragheb has been an adaptation of these kinds of previous studies.
The statistic methods such as Correlation analysis, ANOVA, and MANOVA were used to analyze the data for the research.
The results obtained from this research are as follows:
1. The background variables such as age, income, the level of education and the degree of health condition among demographic characteristics had influence on the degree of satisfaction from participating in leisure sports. That is to say, leisure satisfaction became different by the age group. Also, the people who had the higher incomes, and were educated more with better health conditions got the higher degree of satisfaction from participating in leisure.
2. Participating in leisure sports generally has positive effect on leisure satisfaction, making degree of it higher.
