A sutvey on 1426 Middle and High School Girl students in an rural area(Hong Chon Gun, Kang Won Province) was conducted for assessing their physical growth and development, an correlation and equation between the physical measurements, status of eye sight from April 1, through April 30, 1975, and the following result were obtained.
1) Physical Growth and Development.
a) Maximum growth was seen during the period from 12 to 15 years of age.
b) The maximum annual growth rates were as follows;
Height: 3.89cm from 13 to 14 years of age
Weight: 3.27kg from 12 to 13
Chest-givth: 3.72cm from 12 to 13
Sitting height: 5.3cm from 12 to 13
2) Various Indices about Physical Growth and Development.
a) Relative body weight was increased steadily annually from12 to 15 years of age.
b) Relative chest-girth showed narrow chest style from 12 to 15 years of age but in increased normally without special remark.
c) Relative sitting height was increased steadily annually from 51.55 (12 years old) to 54.49 (15 years old).
d) The Rohrer index was increased steadily annually from 1.128 to 1.278.
e) The Kaup index was lower than 2. 0 from 12 to 19 but the index showed no specific abnormality.
f) The Vervaeck index was increased steadily annually from 67.78 (12 years old) to 80.71 (19 years old).
3) The correlation arming the physical measurements:
a) The coefficients between body’height and body weight are indicative of moderately, corredated condition.
b) The coefficients between body height and chest-girth from 12 to 15 years old are indicative of moderately correlated condition and over 15 years, old group are indicative of low correlated condition.
c) The coefficiencents between body height and sithing heightare indicative of low correlated condition in all age group.
d) The coefficients between body weight and sitting height, sitting height and chest-girth are indicative of low correlated condition in all age group.
4) Highly significant corredations helped establish linear regression eqiatopm for body weight from body height by age follows;
12 year old; Y(body weight, kg)=0.56X (body height, cm)-47.42
13 year old; Y=0.82X-82.06
14 year old; Y=0.75X-72.57
15 year old; Y=0.76X-71.91
16 year old; Y=0.46X-25.93
17 year old; Y=0.56X-40.33
18 year old; Y=0.44X-20.27
19 year old; Y=0.63X-50.15
5) The rate of abnormality in sight was increased in acordance with aging
The rate of abnormality of sight was showed as followed;
12 year old; 16.3% (left sight and 15.3% (right, sight)
13 year old; 18.1% and 18.7%
14 year old; 26.3% and 26.1%
15 year old; 29.0% and 30.1%
16 year old; 34.1% and 36.7%
17 year old; both of sight 27.1%
18 year old; 39.1% and 37.1%
19 year old; 25.0% and 35.0%
Total average; 25.98% and 25.56 Percent.
