The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of children`s sex-role identity on learned helplessness. The 451 subjects were selected randomly from the fifth and sixth grade of elementary schools in the city of Taegu. The instruments of measurement were KSRI(Korean Sex Role Inventory) and Helplessness Scale. The data was analyzed by factor analysis, Cronbach`s a , MANOVA, ANOVA, and Sheff test. The results were as follows: (1) The sex-role identity types of subjects was that the rate of masculinity identity marked the highest ranking in boys, that the rate of androgyny identity marked the highest ranking in girls. (2) In all the factors of learned helplessness, the femininity identity group showed the highest degree of helplessness, masculinity identity group exhibited the lowest degree of helplessness.
