In this study, pre-service Korean language teachers were asked to respond to the question “what is a strategy to read effectively ‘My Desire’ written by Kim Gu” contained in a Korean language textbook for high school students, and then to review their own reading strategies through 5 or 6 person group discussion in order to find out more effective strategies to read the work. In this context, the author analyzed the effects of individual understanding of comprehension strategies on their recognition of the strategies in the course of actual thinking. The process of preparing comprehension strategies to be taught through co-thinking gives suggestions about improving pre-service teachers’ abilities to teach reading skills. Through co-thinking, the participants could understand comprehension strategies in depth, and also learn highly flexible attitudes towards making use of such the strategies. In addition, they could exercise themselves in making the best use of the strategies in more effective manners by help of peer participants’ coaching.
