    The task of this essay is to seek the contextual understanding of narrator which can develop the ethical response in the novel education. It is very important to combine the interpret method and the value operated with reading, considering the goal of literature education. But it had not been easy to activate the voluntary ethical response in the novel education because of the educative intention of the teacher. This essay proved that the ethical response could not be inseparated with the close reading the text and the truthfulness of narrator could be used by the concept of narrative ethical critic. The truthfulness of narrator can not be understood in fre-context firmly. It is possible that the discourse of the narrator which known as unreliable can be evaluated as reliability in ChiSug, whereas the discourse of the narrator which known as reliable can be evaluated as the unreliability in The Box of Wife. According to the result of study, for the develop the ethical response, the teacher can set the three stages. In the first stage, the student reader can analyse the various ethical position in the text. In the second stage, the student reader can determine which position is suitable to me. In the third stage, they have to chance to interprete the own position of the social and cultural context.
