With advances in determining the entire DNA sequence of the human genome, it is now critical to identify and catalog genes in specific cellular networks for formulation and modulation of complex biological systems. Our efforts have focused on the development of a chemical genomic approach that uses small molecules to probe and control the function of specific networks in human cells. This novel and innovative multi-disciplinary approach has been directly applied to the elucidation of regulatory networks for human cell aging. Here we show the small molecule-based identification and modulation of ATM/ATR kinase as a key basis for the regulation of aging precesses in human cells.
