The purpose of this study is to delve into the character of time in the philosophy of Whitehead and Deleuze. Whitehead`s metaphysics is the philosophy of change or process, and Deleuze`s philosophy is also the metaphysics of difference or becoming. Whitehead and Deleuze commonly criticized the modern philosophical view on reality and its time and tried to overcome its conceptual fallacy. To scrutinize the commonness of Whitehead`s and Deleuze`s thought on the time, I first compare the concept of ``immediacy`` and ``repetition`` in Whitehead`s philosophy and ``difference`` and ``repetition`` in Deleuze`s philosophy. These Concepts are the most concrete notions in each other. Especially Whitehead and Deleuze`s explanation on difference or immediacy and repetition is oriented to the concept of Heraclitus`s process. Second, I has argued that Whitehead`s theory of time has a comparable structure with Deleuze`s theory of time. Deleuze is divided the time into three phases. Each phase is synthese passive, synthese active, on(instinct de mort). This is also comparable with Whitehead`s notion of transition, concrescence, satisfaction. Through this approach, we shares mutual understanding with Whitehead`s philosophy of organism and Deleuze`s philosophy of machine.
