서비스분야 외국인투자의 파급효과 분석에 관한 연구: 한국 관광업분야 외국인투자기업의 마케팅활동의 전시효과를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

외국인직접투자가 투자유치국에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는가 아니면 부정적인 영향을 미치는가하는 연구는 그동안 제조업 분야를 대상으로는 많이 다루어졌지만 서비스 분야를 대상으로 경우는 많이 않았다. 본 연구는 외국인직접투자가 투자유치국에 미치는 스필오버효과를 서비스 분야에 대해서 확인한다는 목적을 갖고 수행되었다. 다국적기업의 우수한 선진적인 경영 방식이나 노하우의 국내기업에 대한 전시효과를 주목하고, 한국 관광업 분야에 대한 외국인투자기업들의 마케팅 활동의 긍정적인 파급효과를 검증하는 방식으로 서비스 분야 외국인투자의 전시효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 마케팅 활동과 경영성과의 정의 관계, 외국인투자기업 경영성과의 우수성, 외국인투자기업의 마케팅 활동과 경영성과의 정의 관계 등 세 가지 가설이 동시에 성립할 경우 긍정적 파급효과를 확인할 수 있다고 보고, 2002년부터 2006 년까지 5년 기간의 한국 관광업 분야 외국인투자기업과 국내기업에 대한 기업재무자료를 토대로 실증 분석하였다. 분석결과 마케팅 활동과 경영성과의 정의 관계와 외국인투자기업 경영성과의 우수성은 통계적으로 유의미한 수준에서 확인이 되었지만, 외국인투자기업의 마케팅 활동과 경영성과의 정의 관계가 아닌 부의 관계가 확인되었다. 서비스분야 외국인투자의 국내기업에 대한 긍정적 전시효과의 존재는 확인되지 않았지만, 외국인투자기업의 성과가 국내기업의 성과에 비해서 우수하다는 점이 확인되었다는 점에서 데이터에 대한 보완과 방법론의 정교화를 통한 후속연구가 필요하다고 하겠다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

There are various economic effects of foreign direct investment (FDI) to the host economy. One of the positive effects of FDI is so called the 'demonstration effects' of foreign firms to domestic firms. The effects might exist and be great if the foreign invested enterprises demonstrate domestic firms their advanced management practices, which are proven to bring better performances, and so the domestic firms are eager to follow the practices. Most of prior studies related to these demonstration effects have been done mainly by treating them as a subordinate concept of the 'spill-over effects' of FDI, especially in the manufacturing industries. Unlike the well-known technology spillovers of FDI in manufacturing industries the demonstration effects of advanced management practices of foreign invested enterprises in service industries might be more noticeable. In this regard this study tries to look for the featured demonstration effects of FDI in services sectors using the firm level data FDI in Korean tourism industry. The empirical analyses on the firms' marketing activities in Korean tourism industry show how the demonstration effects of FDI appear, and which conditions are important to maximize these effects.
